A CARING 13-year-old organised a charity Punk concert at his school and raised more than £100.

Joe Conboy-Greenwood staged the show with three local bands last Friday.

Joe, of Alder Grange High, Rawtenstall, amazed his parents and impressed his teachers with his flair and determination to make the gig a success.

He is donating all the money raised from the concert to his favourite Mozambique charity Imagine, which provides funding for streetchildren and disadvantaged families, and Casa Al Ianza, which provides for streetchildren in Central America.

Joe, who plays in Ded Mole Criket, said: "I sold 150 tickets so there is enough money in the pot to send to Mozambique so they can build a house for a homeless family".

His mum Kate, 39, of Blackburn Road, Haslingden, said: "We are really proud of Joe and what he has achieved. People think it's amazing for someone so young to take on such a responsibility but that's Joe. He wants to help others less fortunate than him, which is fantastic."

Claire Foster, Head of Humanities at Alder Grange, praised Joe's efforts: "I can honestly say that he has undertaken most of the organising himself. I am thrilled with his efforts. It is really nice to have someone like this in school."
