A DRINKER who went into a chemist's shop thought he was in the off-licence next-door and fell out with staff when they wouldn't serve him with booze.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Imdad Hussain was arrested after a struggle with police and when the charge was put to him five hours later said; "Yes, but why a chemist's shop it was an off-licence."
Hussain, 48, of Balaclava Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in Wilson's Chemist, Whalley New Road, and was fined £50 with £55 costs.
Basharat Ditta, defending, said the response spoke volumes for the state of his client's sobriety.
"Even after his arrest he still thought he had been in an off-licence and it is hardly surprising that he couldn't get what he wanted," said Mr Ditta.
