SOLICITORS Haworth and Nuttall have celebrated their 125-year anniversary by donating books to local schools.

Nine high schools in the Blackburn and Accrington area will receive the brand new books courtesy of the law firm.

Managing partner David McCraith said: "We didn't want to keep this milestone achievement to ourselves so we looked around for inspiration. Books are a very important part of law and notwithstanding the increased use of computers, we still use them in our day-to-day work."

Haworth and Nuttall started with a small practice in an office in Blackburn and a second office sprang up just before the turn of last century. Today the firm has a third office in Accrington.

There are still two Haworths at Haworth and Nuttall. John Haworth is a consultant and has been with the company for 40 years. Chris Haworth has been with the firm for 34 years and is a senior partner, he said: "I am very proud to be part of a practice that my family have built up."

The nine lucky schools are Witton Park High, St Wilfrid's C of E High School, Queen's Park High, Westholme, Our Lady and St John RC High, Pleckgate High and Queen Elizabeth's Grammar in Blackburn, St Christopher's C of E High and Hollins Technology College, Accrington.
