THE latest disproportionate use of services run by Blackburn with Darwen Council is the arts service using professional storytellers to help carers and parents develop their skills.
I have no problem with this service. In fact, I feel it will be of great value to both adults and children.
What I do object to is that all the areas where they are taking place are predominantly Labour wards. All wards in Blackburn and Darwen have these needs, not just the ones chosen by Labour.
This service could have been spread throughout the borough enabling more adults and children to benefit.
Is it just a coincidence that no area with a Conservative councillor has been chosen and only one area in Darwen?
I have asked Steve Rigby, the director involved, how the areas were chosen. His answer was he would look into it and get back to me next week.. I find his response unacceptable -- I would have expected a quicker response from the director of the portfolio on this issue.
Councillor DEREK HARDMAN (Conservative spokesman for leisure, culture and sport, Blackburn with Darwen Council), Victoria Avenue, Cherry Tree, Blackburn.
