IT'S not a clash you'll see in the Premiership this season -- but Bobby and Coco were involved in East Lancashire's own match of the day.

The African grey parrots may look similar in size and colour but in football terms they're worlds apart.

Four-year-old Bobby isn't your average Blackburn Rovers fan -- he's one foot long, feathered and has made appearances on the club's matchday TV channel Rover Vision.

And Burnley fan, Coco has already made star appearances on Sky, GMTV and the national media during the World Cup.

The reason for their fame? -- they can chant along with the most dedicated fans on the terraces.

In the Blue corner was Bobby, who is famous for his chants of 'Come on the Rovers!' and 'Andy Cole!'

In the Claret corner, Coco, who sings his own versions of 'Stan Ternent's Claret and Blue army' and 'Who are yer? (sic) Who are yer?... You are Beresford!'

But the face-off, at Coco's Barrow post office home, quickly turned into a psyche-out as both parrots remained suspicious and eyed each other up.

Robert Cox, father of 19-year-old Andy, who owns Bobby, said: "Ours was out of the cage and Coco was still inside.

"They mostly just stared at each other because it was the first time either of them had seen another parrot, so it can be intimidating.

"I didn't expect Bobby to talk because he's only ever been out once and that was to the vet."

David Wilson, 42, owner of Coco, added: "It's just our luck that when you want them to, they won't say a thing. The golden rule of parrots is that they'll only talk when they want to talk.

"Our parrot is certainly a bit more famous than theirs because he's been all over the place. We bought him in a pet shop in Clitheroe and I just couldn't resist him. I didn't actually go in there to buy a parrot, but there he was.

Bobby's owners, of Hodder Grove, Darwen, are Rovers season ticket holders.

Andy plays for the Rovers' disabled side.

Robert, a committee member for disabled supporters, said: "We've had Bobby four years now, since he was just a baby, and he's been on Rover Vision, chanting 'Rovers!' for the past year now.

"He picks up anything and everything and we're hoping to teach him more in the future. We're teaching him 'Come on the Blues!' at this moment in time.

"He's such an amazing little thing and he talks so much at home. He knows the name of my grandson and he says it every time he sees him.

"When people go to leave the front door, as soon as they reach for the handle, he says 'Bye-bye.''
