SHAKERS player-boss Andy Preece praised his number two Graham Barrow for turning round the one goal deficit at Carlisle on Saturday writes PHIL THORP.

It was first team coach Barrow's decision to replace Liam George with Dave Nugent and the more direct approach of the Merseyside youngster gave Bury a decisive edge.

"Credit to Graham he could see from the touchline that we needed to change things," said Preece.

"It was no offence to Liam who tried to get us going in the right areas and worked very hard but sometimes you do need to change things.

"We needed to give 'Nuge' time to make an impact and he made a big one.

"He is going to play at a lot higher standard than third division and his pace and direct running caused them problems."

Midfielder Lenny Johnrose agreed that the switch worked a treat as the Shakers went on to turn the game around completely.

"Through no fault of his own Liam was struggling to get into the game and obviously Graham could see that," he said.

"David came on and did absolutely brilliantly, once again he showed just what a great prospect he is."
