A BURNLEY man seriously injured in a car crash is today still fighting for his life as his family face an anxious wait at his hospital bedside.

Steven Morris, 48, of Printers Fold, Burnley, was cut from his Ford Escort on Friday morning.

Police said that his car failed to negotiate a left-hand bend in Whalley Road, Read, and crossed to the other side of the carriageway. As the vehicle careered out of control it hit a Honda Civic travelling in the opposite direction.

Mr Morris was taken to the intensive care unit at Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance, where his condition was today described as critical.

The accident happened at 11.45am near Read Hall.
