A BURNT-OUT former nightclub described as 'very dangerous' by firemen has been put up for sale by the supermarket company which had planned to redevelop it.
For Sale signs have appeared outside the old Millennium nightclub, Blackburn, which has been attacked by arsonists several times since in closing in 1999.
In 2000, discount foodchain Lidl bought the site, between Cicely Lane and Eanam, and got planning permission to build a supermarket there.
But a planning condition which demanded expensive highways improvements being carried out before the store could open prompted Lidl to find a new site, this time in Whalley Banks, where it opened earlier this year.
The Cicely Lane site has been identified by the council as suitable for retail uses.
