THE European Union has just published its report into the Government's handling of the foot and mouth crisis during 2001.

It's a damning report, which appears to condemn almost every move made by the Government.

It vindicates the view of thousands of farmers who repeatedly told the Government that what they were doing was wrong. The foot and mouth crisis needlessly cost the British taxpayer £8billion and saw the slaughter of some 10 million animals, the majority of which were healthy.

Can we now expect the responsible ministers to resign? This is New Labour, so I won't hold my breath.
