A POP group are looking to launch themselves into 2003 by recording their own album -- thanks to some original Latvian music!

The group, Personality, consists of 12-year-old Latvian born Magda Ozolina, fellow Gawthorpe High School pupils Kelly Robinson, 17, Emma Walker, 16, and new recruits Claire Holmes, 17, Victoria McDonald, 14, and Ashley Hudson, 14, who have all got their sights firmly set on a successful New Year.

The group, from Padiham, are hoping they can attract an interpreter to translate some tracks recorded by Madga's parents Mya and Ainars.

Mya said: "My English isn't that good so I find it difficult to translate songs. We are hoping someone will come forward who can put the songs into English because they are beautiful."

Mya said in the coming months they will be looking at recruiting some dancers for the band to make them an all singing and dancing spectacular. Personality have just completed a series of Christmas concerts in East Lancashire, including a festive concert for special needs pupils at Northcliffe Special Needs school in Great Harwood.

Mya, who manages the group after working in theatres in their home city of Riga, alongside her husband, a trained music teacher, said: "The group are doing so well it is unbelievable. We've been to Northcliffe before and were asked back because they enjoyed the concert so much. There's a lot of talent and we want other people to have the chance to be part of something that's going to be a huge success."

The pair produce and record all the shows and will be looking to record a CD of modern-day music which they hope will suit all tastes.

Auditions will be held for dancers in January at the Nazareth Unitarian Chapel, Knight Hill, Padiham, with registration taking place from 4.30pm on Monday, January 20, Wednesday, January 22 and Saturday, January 26.
