UP to 11 per cent of employers in the North-west are planning to take on more staff in the next quarter, despite the uncertain economic outlook, according to a leading recruitment firm.

Manpower says that this is the strongest employment outlook for the North West since 1995.

The company's Quarterly Survey of Employment Prospects is one of the most respected indices of employment trends in the country, shows that employment prospects in the North West have risen by 21 points from the same period last year.

The Manpower survey asks more than 2,000 UK companies if they expect an increase, decrease or no change in their staffing levels for the quarter ahead.

The survey shows that 11 per cent of North Western employers will be increasing staffing levels in the period January toMarch 2003.
