HEALTH Minister Hazel Blears visited the Rossendale Valley's new in-demand NHS dentist yesterday and praised its staff.
The MP met the team at the dentist in Burnley Road, Rawtenstall, where residents queued for hours during the registration period to get a place. The practice was established in a bid to provide a dental service in the area and was officially opened by Janet Anderson MP last October.
Prior to it being built there were no dentists in the Valley accepting new NHS patients, which left thousands of people without a dentist. Around 7,000 people were put on the books in the first two weeks of it opening.
