A BURGLAR is starting a two-year jail term after a £4,000 Boxing Day raid on a family home.
Jason Joyce, 24, of Schofield Road, Rawtenstall, had seven previous convictions for burglary and had flouted a previous non-custodial sentence, Burnley Crown Court heard.
Joyce, who also broke into electrical shop Ball Bros, in Rawtenstall, after hearing it was an "easy target," had earlier admitted burglary and been committed for sentence by the Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Magistrates. He asked for one offence to be considered.
Sentencing, Judge Barbara Watson said sadly Joyce had a very extensive record and he had succumbed to temptation because of money problems over Christmas.
