AN oil spillage on the M65 resulted in one lane of the motorway being closed for part of Thursday morning.

A lorry travelling in the Shadsworth area on the motorway was found to be leaking oil and diesel from its engine at around 8.45am.

Two fire crews were called to the scene from Padiham and Blackburn.

A spokesperson from Lancashire Police motorway unit said: "It hasn't caused much of a disruption because it was just after rush-hour and there haven't been any huge tail backs as a result of the spill."

A specialist environmental protection unit from Burnley travelled to the scene to help clear up the spillage.
