BLACKPOOL is set for a massive boost after Ryanair launched a new route between the town and Dublin.
Ryanair, Europe's largest low fares airline, is to commence daily flights on May 22 with fares starting at £29.99 one way including tax.
"This is fantastic news for the town and will give the local economy a massive boost," says Ryanair's UK Sales Manager Kathryn Munro.
"We are convinced the link between the North-west's largest and most popular holiday resort and Ireland's capital will prove hugely successful.
"In particular it will be greatly beneficial to the north-west business community, giving them quick and inexpensive access to Ireland for business trips and meetings.
"We expect that some 70,000 passengers will fly on the service in the first year, and over half of them will be incoming Irish visitors keen to sample the unique delights that Blackpool and the north-west can offer.
"We estimate that each Ryanair visitor will spend an average of £250 per visit, so that could mean an annual boost to the local economy of some £9m.
"And local people can now get across so cheaply to Dublin, Europe's party capital. For shopping, short breaks, the craic and the black stuff, Dublin is unbeatable."
