THREE Darwen streets were wiped of electricity earlier today when a damaged cable caused a power cut.
Businesses and shops in Church Bank Street, Bridge Street and Victoria Street had their electricity supplies cut for 35 minutes this morning.
A spokesman for United Utilities said: "It happened at around 10.45am and as soon as we heard we had engineers out investigating.
"We managed to get the power back on but we were not able to get to the source of the problem.
"It could be a broken cable, in which case they often mend themselves by re-sealing. If the same happens again, we will carry out another investigation.
"We apologise to customers for any inconvenience the power cut might have caused."
