A LOTTERY jackpot will be used to create a new 24 place nursery.
The New Opportunities Fund has awarded £93,520 to Wigan Local Education Authority to provide the parents of over threes in Hindley Green and Hindley with access to good quality childcare facilities as part of the Sure Start Programme, a major community project which offers additional services to children and families.
The nursery, which will be based in a Sure Start Centre will incorporate community rooms and a cafe.
LEA spokesman Dawn Leigh said: "The funding is great news. It means parents will be able to remain in jobs, return to work or take up training opportunities."
