LEIGH RMI's embarrassing Lancashire Trophy performance against Chorley will not be tolerated again insists Mark Patterson.

"Things are changing down here and that is the lowest we will reach. There is only one way to go and that is up," fumed the manager.

"I have never been as mad, disgusted and embarrassed in my life with a team I have been involved with. That was a disgrace. Chorley embarrassed us. That performance from my players is not good enough. I will not tolerate it.

"I have told them they are playing for their furture. There are some lads who have contracts here next season but they will not be in the team if they keep performing like that.

"Some of them are just here to pick their money up but I am not having that. The commitment and endeavour of their players compared to ours summed it up."

Despite their poor display RMI managed to scrape a 1-0 win over a side two divisions below them, thanks largely to former Leigh striker Andy Mason missing a hat-trick of chances. Leigh will now meet the winner of the second semi-final between runaway UniBond Premier Division leaders Accrington Stanley and Kendal Town. A date for the final has not yet been arranged.

Patterson is in much better mood after securing the signings of Scarborough strikers Keith Scott and Neil Campbell, but admits his side will have to perform much better in Saturday's Conference encounter at Nuneaton.

He added: "I have brought in new faces with good experience and bags of endeavour. If they can do for me what I know they are capable of I will be delighted. We have a lot of work to do before our next Conference game but by then we will be a different team altogether."

Leigh's postponed Conference fixture at home to Farnborough Town has been rearranged for Tuesday, March 4.
