I WISH to thank, through the Citizen, all residents who responded to an appeal for more organ donors received with the city council's electoral roll forms in the autumn.
They have joined more than 10 million people across the country who have placed their names on the NHS organ donor register, pledging to save lives by allowing their organs to be used after death.
We know that 70 per cent of the population support transplant-ation but only 17 per cent have so far joined the register. We still need more people to sign up and discuss their wishes with their families.
Anyone wanting to add their name to the register can call the organ donor hotline on 0845-6060400 or sign up on-line at www.uktransplant.org.uk.
