THE final rounds of the Brains of Cliviger quiz were held at the Village Hall with the Church, Home and School Association emerging the winners by one point in front of the Red Lees team.

CLIVIGER Recreation and Community Association is planning two 'open' events at the bowling green in Park Road, to encourage more people to take up bowling.

The first one is on Tuesday 1 April from 6 to 8pm, with pie and peas supper available. Anyone interested in joining the bowling club can do so at a cost of £15 for the season. Easter Saturday 19 April is the second 'open day', from 11am to 4pm, with 'experts' available to introduce newcomers to the game.

CRACA is also hoping to hold two further social evenings at Mount Lane during the summer, possibly a country and western evening and another with an Irish band. Further details of dates etc will be available in the next few months.

TALKS are ongoing regarding encroachment on to parish council land at Mereclough.

A RESIDENT complained recently about a discarded syringe, which was found on the footpath in Burnley Road. Burnley Borough Council was contacted and responded within twenty minutes.

THE parish council is dealing with a number of complaints from residents including: tipping in the layby at Windy Bridge; building rubble at the rear of a property in Mount Lane; vehicles parked in a dangerous position in Park Road.

THE next meeting of the parish council will be held on Friday 21 March at 7pm, in the Village Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend to see how the council works.

ON Thursday 20 March at Mount Zion Church there will be a presentation entitled 'Whose Life Is It?', by members of a Christian Conservation Group.
