A SHOPPER has given store bosses the cold shoulder after a mix-up over an insurance policy on a fridge bought from an Accrington shop.

Adele Harrington bought the £200-plus Fridgemaster appliance from the town's Iceland store, in the Arndale Centre, last year.

At the time, she says, she was told she could have delivery and contents insurance for a year for a one-off payment of £18, just £3 more than the normal delivery charge.

But this year, she says, another £18 was taken from her bank account, and when she rang to query it she was told it was a five-year policy.

The 32-year-old, from Barnes Street, Clayton-le-Moors, says she will not use the store again.

But after the store agreed to refund the money, it made matters worse by sending her £18 of Iceland vouchers instead of her money back.

"The £18 one-off payment sounded like an absolutely fantastic deal," she said.

"But this year £18 came out of my bank account yet again.

"I rang Iceland and they said it was a five-year thing.

"They told me I could have a refund but they have sent me £18 worth of vouchers.

"I have rung them and they are not prepared to do anything about it.

"This has been going on since February. When the vouchers arrived I thought 'this is taking the mickey.'

"I will never shop at Iceland again.

"The insurance policy was supposed to run for five years but they have cancelled that now."

A spokesman for Iceland said: "Customer satisfaction is our utmost priority.

"We were concerned to learn that Mrs Harrington was not happy with the service she received in response to her query, and contacted her immediately to resolve the situation."
