RECORDS were set and broken in the Lancashire League on Saturday.

Lowerhouse batsman Chris Bleazard reached a personal milestone when he reached the 10,000 run mark thanks to his total of 106.

The 36-year-old, who is in his 17th year at the Liverpool Road ground, reached 106 off 105 ball thanks to three sixes and eight fours.

Lowerhouse captain Matt Hope said: "I knew it would be about a run a ball for him, but that's just like Blez.

"He's a good player. Once he gets in he scores quite quickly.

"And he's reached his milestone with a four or five-year absence in between the 17 years he's been with us while he was at university."

Bleazard made his Lowerhouse debut when he was 16.

Meanwhile, Bacup's Peter Thompson has broken the club's long standing record for runs scored.

The current champions' opening batsman was seven runs short of James Midgley's total of 9,007, which was set in 1942, ahead of their game at East Lancs on Saturday.

He broke that record after reaching 37 before he was caught off the bowling of Paul Kelly.

But Thompson's personal celebrations were short-lived as they suffered an away defeat and surrendered the top spot to Colne.
