THE line-up says it all. With bands like the Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, The Charlatans, Feeder, Badly Drawn Boy and REM all down to play, you don't need to know much more about Manchester's Move festival to realise it's going to be a great weekend.

The event takes place in Lancashire County Cricket Ground for the second year running from Friday, July 11 to Sunday, July 13.

The Manic Street Preachers will be headlining on Friday, alongside the Super Furry Animals, Flaming Lips, Kinesis and Mars Volta. The Manics are riding on the crest of a wave following the huge success of their greatest hits album, Forever Delayed, and the critical acclaim their history of memorable songs has earned them.

The band, well known for their politically fuelled lyrics, has chosen to make their first live appearance this year at Move.

They will be followed, on Saturday, by The Charlatans, Feeder, Dave Gahan, Inspiral Carpets, Puressence and The Bees. The Move represents a homecoming gig for The Charlatans and will also be their first ever outdoor gig in the North West.

The line-up for Sunday includes REM, Badly Drawn Boy, Idlewild, John Squire, Athlete and Oranger.

When REM take to the stage, fans will witness one of the world's greatest bands singing a set of their greatest hits. This memorable combination is sure to bring the festival to an epic climax.

Move is an original concept that encompasses all the best bits of a festival; the atmosphere, the music, the eclectic line-up, the greatest hits sets and the sunshine, but without the mud, traffic queues and the camping.

Tickets for the three-day festival can be purchased from Wayahead Box Office - 0870 120 2221, Piccadilly Box Office 0161 832 1111, Ticketmaster - 0870 151 4444 (open 24 hours) and Gigsandtours - www.gigsandtours.com.
