ORGANISERS have vowed "The Show Must Go On" at Accrington Lions carnival -- despite the problems that have forced the cancellation of neighbouring events.

And the charity group has invited people from all over the region to join the Carnival Queen Sasha Fort, 16, of Church, and Princess Summer Hyatt, seven, of Accrington, to enjoy the fun-filled day.

Lions spokesperson Terry Barber, 66, of Fielden Place, Feniscowles, Blackburn, said the event promised to be a great day for all the family and invited everyone from all over East Lancashire to attend.

He said: "With the Lions carnival in Blackburn and Darwen cancelled we would love everyone to come to the one in Accrington.

"We have lots to offer to keep everyone occupied, especially the little ones. We've got a wild west adventure and a minicircus where they can learn how to lasso like cowboys or throw pies like big top clowns.

"By all accounts the weather for Saturday looks to be fine."

The event starts with the grand procession and parade at 10.45am outside the Globe Centre in Accrington town centre.

Four bands, six majorette groups and floats will follow down Eagle Street and Blackburn Road to the town hall, where the prizes for floats will be given, before continuing East Gate, Whalley Road and Queens Road to Peel Park Primary School.

The parade will also have representations from the Accrington Stanley Supporters Club and the town's motorcycle and scooter clubs.

The parade will also be accompanied by a fun fair at Peel Park School running from 10.30am to 4/5pm with the wild west adventure and mini circus, plus army assault course and paintballing.

The fair will also feature gymnastic, majorette and dog agility displays as well as food, charity and trade stalls. Admission is £2, 50p concessions. More information from Tony Clarkson on 01254 385224.
