RESIDENTS in Pendle will have the opportunity to have their say on the future of the borough's SRB6 regeneration programme during a public meeting.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 1, at 6.15pm in the Civic Theatre, Stanley Street, Nelson.

The SRB regeneration programme covers the electoral wards of Bradley, Whitefield, Brierfield, Waterside and Vivary Bridge and residents and businesses from these wards are invited to attend the meeting.

It is currently being independently evaluated by external consultants who are meeting with residents and businesses in the SRB6 area to find out their views on a range of issues including whether the programme has been successful so far, if it is on course to achieve its targets and how any remaining uncommitted funding should be spent between now and 2007. The meeting will be chaired by Mohammed Ishaq who is the chairman of Pendle Partnership's Social Inclusion Key Priority Group. He said: "This in an important chance for the community to influence what Pendle Partnership does and the projects it funds. I would urge everyone who has an interest in the future of the SRB6 wards to come to this public meeting."

A number of the projects funded by Pendle Partnership will be displaying information about what they do including Nelson and Colne College, Pendle Leisure's Healthy Communities project and Pendle's Canal Corridor Coordinator.

Once the public meeting has taken place the consultants will write a report for Pendle Partnership who will be responsible for any changes that are needed. The consultant's findings will be made public later in the year.
