IT WILL soon be Daytime in Blackpool again -- Darren Day that is -- and the perfect time for a Summer Holiday!

Darren, 34, has just been signed up for an extended tour of the much-loved comedy film turned musical.

He'll tread the boards at Liverpool and Norwich before reaching Blackpool Opera House for a three week run during the Illuminations.

The announcement came just weeks after he declared he 'didn't want to be singing Bachelor Boy for the rest of his life' and wanted to shake off his Cliff Richard image.

But after relaunching his career on ITV's first I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here Darren will star opposite ex-Hear'Say singer Suzanne Shaw and Christopher Biggins for the show's extra dates.

He made his name in Summer Holiday seven years ago, when he was the first to recreate Sir Cliff's famous bachelor boy Don for the stage.

The show tells the story of a group of London Transport bus mechanics who set out on the bus-ride of a lifetime through Europe, joined by runaway pop starlet Bobby (Shaw) who falls for Don.

Darren had seemed anxious to shake his 'musicals' image, recently playing a rapist in a play in London and telling reporters: "If this doesn't shake off the Cliff Richard image, I can't imagine what else will."

But theatregoers will be able to catch him in full Cliff mode at Blackpool Opera House from September 8-27. To book phone the box office on 292029.
