AN unusual night out in Blackburn that's definitely worth making an effort for -- it's a bold claim but one the organisers of Mish Mash are confident they can live up to.

And what makes next Friday night particularly special is that the DJs behind the decks will be fresh new talent -- something which seems to be quite rare in an age where the big names seem to dominate.

Mish Mash had begun building up a name for itself earlier this year after securing a monthly residency at The Works venue, which is underneath FJ Nicholls in Northgate, making it quite literally an underground venue.

But that all halted when The Works closed for a makeover. But while it will be a new look club which will be re-opening next Friday night, the Mish Mash ethos will still ride on.

The promoters are promising five of the best new, up and coming local DJs who will play Progressive House, Funky House, and Trance. They include Lee Beckett and Adam O'Keeffe, who specialise in playing back-to-brack Progressive.

Sam Flanagan will play Funk House while Paul Denby and Jonathan Holt will play back-to-back quality Trance.

Entry into The Works is free and there will be various drinks offers at the bar.

Judith, one of the night's promoters, said: "We are expecting a large turnout due to such positive word of mouth surrounding the night, as well as the loyal crowd we have picked up from previous Mish Mash nights, so we would recommend early arrival, as The Works is a small club with limited capacity. Doors are open 8pm-2am.

"Mish Mash really is all about allowing people with real talent and a passion for the music, the chance to play out to a crowd as well as providing Blackburn with something new, friendly and unique and above all something accessible to those in the area that normally travel elsewhere in search of this type of night.

"As for future plans, we will provide some varied nights musically over the next few months. People should also expect to see some special guest DJs behind the decks, which will no doubt attract a larger and newer crowd.

"People will also get the chance to see the best of our local talent as we give more DJs the chance, the chance to get out of their bedrooms and entertain the crowd."
