OPPORTUNITY has knocked for Tottington High School pupil Aaron Parker, and he needs your help to take it.

The 14-year-old, of Brandlesholme, has been given a chance to join the National Youth Music Theatre as a company member for its 2003 project The Generator 5: Spider Dance.

Aaron had to audition in Manchester and London get the summer placement. But as the National Youth Music Theatre is a non-profit making charity, Aaron will have to partially fund his place to the tune of £750.

Tottington High spokesman Joyce Kinsey said: "We are pleading with all generous souls out there to offer assistance in any way possible. If you or your company have an interest in music and dance, Aaron would be extremely pleased to hear from you. After all, £750 might not even put a dent in your company's finances.

"But any contribution you might make would enable a very talented student to gain valuable experience from this wonderful opportunity."

Next month, Whitefield Operatic and Drama Society, of which Aaron is a member, will stage West End Bound to help the teenager. The show is on July 20 at the New Jerusalem Church in Radcliffe.

Aaron's acting career so far includes parts in charity performances at The Lowry Theatre at Salford Quays and appearing as an extra in Coronation Street.

Next summer, Aaron is hoping to go to the Italia Performing Arts School in London where he eventually hopes to become a full-time student at the age of 16.

Those wishing to help Aaron should make a contribution to the National Youth Music Theatre and send it to the Fifth Floor, Palace Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, London, W1D 5AY and a written confirmation of the award to the school.
