The sun wasn't out like in years gone by but that didn't stop what organisers estimated as 35,000 people attending the annual Blackburn mela over the July 4/5 weekend.

Now in it's fourth year there was plenty of fun to be had in Corporation Park.

Stereonation again headlined but the real cheers were set aside for RDB. The Yorkshire boys have been big in the charts for some time and turned out to be a real smash on stage.

Also appearing were Shahin Badar, the great voice of Rahim Shah (who wasn't given long enough), Rafaqat Ali Khan and Silinder Pardesi.

Whilst day one began quietly it ended on a high note with Taz from Stereonation whipping the crowd into a frenzy. It is the third year running Taz has appeared at the mela and it seems he has lost none of his enthusiasm for Blackburn.

Making a welcome return to the mela this year after a year's absence was the fashion show. Organised by Poshaak the fashion show's took place on the Sunday and featured some of the boutiques latest designs.

Samina aged 19 of Johnstone St said, "I loved RDB they were brilliant and really got the crowd going. I wish they had stayed for longer."

Rashid Bhatti 14 of Brookhouse said, "It's been a good day out. I wanted the weather to be better."

Mohmed aged 22, of Accrington said, "There are not as many people here as there were last year. But I think it was alright. Some of the acts were good and there were plenty of things to do."

Javaid, aged 28 of Blackburn said, "It got better as it went on. I'd like to say well done to the Council and the organisers. The big let down was the the number of people drinking. I found it funny but I think some other people here didn't."
