A FAMILY have put up a "substantial reward" leading to the return of two quad-bikes stolen from their home.

The are hoping the unusual move will encourage people to come forward with information about the theft.

Christian Laycock's £3,000 Yamaha Blaster quad-bike was stolen from the garage of his home in Spen Brook, Newchurch-in-Pendle, sometime on Friday between 9am and 4pm along with another one worth £1,000.

The 13-year-old St Christopher's pupil in Accrington is so desperate to have the quad, which was bought as a Christmas present returned, that his mum, Diane has put up a whopping £1,000 reward.

Diane said: "We just want both the quad's back and if this is what we have to do to get them back then it will be worth it."

Christian added: "I have wanted this quad-bike for ages so I was gutted when I found out it had been stolen. I just hope somebody notices it so I can have it back."

A police spokesman said: "We had a similar incident when a quadbike was stolen in Sabden the previous day. They seen to have been taken sometime during the day, I would urge anybody with information about these thefts to contact us immediately.

"People should be security conscious and ensure valuable property is stored out of sight and kept locked away."

The first quad stolen was a Yamaha Blaster 200cc in black and red and is a 2003 model. The other was a Gas Gas model 250cc in red.

Anybody with information is asked to contact Burnley police on 01282 425001 or in confidence on 0800 555 111 or alternatively contact Diane on 07814932050.
