IN response to Phil Mattrick's views (Letters, June 30), I have only two comments to make:
1. Firearms are designed and manufactured as a tool to kill and maim.
2. If the people of Britain could own firearms as in the USA, we would only succeed in sharing with its murder and manslaughter rate and levels of gun-related crime, not to mention the grief, distress and anguish of many individuals and families.
Remember Dunblane? It's that simple!
