POLICE searching Berry's house found a number of love letters which laid bare her obsession with Mandy and her torment.

Officers believe they were written in the weeks leading up to the murder, as Berry's confusion and frustration over her relationship grew.

They were not dated, but one said: "I would not have killed you on Wednesday night," and police believe this referred to her threats to kill in the 999 call made four days before Mandy's death.

Another said: "Dear Mandy, I love you with all my heart. I would not have killed you. Please forgive me, baby. Love, your Louise."

One letter demonstrated how Berry longed to have a stable life and even to go on holiday.

It said: "To my dear Mandy, you are a really good cook, you know, and you look dead sexy in your chef's uniform.

I am crazy, crazy about you. I know I can be a pain in the ****, but I mean well.

I haven't ever felt like this about no one in my life. No one held my heart like you did. Without you, it will break into a trillion pieces never to be found again.

We will go on holiday next year. This year, I would like to go to Blackpool.

We will have to get a log cabin because they are romantic. I will cook you a candlelit meal and you will be well impressed and may say you love me and we will make a good life. I am doing your head in so goodbye, love your baby."

Berry also wrote to her lover asking for forgiveness, saying: "Dear Mandy, I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart for whatever I have done and put your through on Wednesday night.

We don't often get second chances in life and you have given me one and I won't make the same mistake twice.

I love you and every time I think about that night, I cry and it hurts inside. Thank you for forgiving me and you won't regret it, I promise. Love your baby Louise. There is only one thing in life that I did right, that's saying I love you on that January night."

Romance was also a factor in some of the letters, with Berry writing: "Thank you for taking me back. If you were a flower in a field, I would pick you because you are so radiant. I am so very proud knowing you are mine, yours, always, Louise."

And in another (in pink ink): "Dear Mandy, I am really sorry for being a silly sausage. It thought I had lost you for good. Love, for ever, Louise."

And finally, Berry's dream of spending her life with Mandy were revealed when she wrote: "Dear Mandy, I love you with all my heart. You make me laugh and make me feel alive. I cannot wait to get married."
