HAIRDRESSER Susan Lincoln's 50th birthday party produced a £1,520 boost for Pendleside Hospice, Reedley, after she asked guests give donations instead of presents.
Family, friends and customers gathered for a party at Ighten Mount Bowling Club, Burnley, after Susan's husband, Chris, asked pals Sheila and Frank Salmon to organise the celebration. Chris's employer, Abbey National, agreed to double the amount raised.
"The response was overwhelming," said Susan, boss of Susan's Studio 13, in St Matthew Street, Burnley.
"I would like to thank family, friends and customers for their generosity."
Hospice chairman Muriel Jobling said: "We are indebted to Susan for her generosity in presenting this money to support our work.
"We are also aware of the sterling work that Sheila and Frank do in organising these events on behalf of the hospice.
"Also, companies like Abbey National are to be commended for their community spirit."
