RESIDENTS in the Piccadilly Road area of Burnley have been looking at the progress made to improve their community.

The event, held at Holy Trinity School, in Every Street, was a follow-up to one held last October, which aimed to encourage people to get involved in planning for the future of the area in which they live.

It was organised by Piccadilly Area Residents' Association (PARA), the Community Alliance and Flying Giraffe Ltd.

Visitors were able to see the progress that had been made over the last 12 months and view the area report produced by the newly formed Piccadilly's Moving action group.

Trinity ward councillor, Carole Galbraith, who is also the executive member responsible for regeneration and housing, opened the event.

She told visitors: "This event aims to show you how the suggestions you made last October relating to how Piccadilly could be improved have progressed into actions.

"My fellow councillors, Tony Lambert and Liz Monk, have asked me to say a big thank you to the residents of Piccadilly for the tremendous amount of work you have done in your community over many years."
