A BURNLEY day nursery has become the first in the town to receive a quality kite mark.

Delighted senior managers and staff at Le Monde Petit day nursery in Burnley will be presented with their 'Quality Counts' kite mark award tomorrow at a ceremony at the nursery.

The presentation will be made by Claire Gifford, development manager with the National Day Nursery Association (NDNA) at 2pm.

She said: "NDNA has always been at the forefront of promoting quality in the day nursery setting. A great amount of energy and commitment is needed to fulfil the criteria set by the scheme's assessment and Le Monde Petit nursery should be extremely proud of their new status as one of the country's Quality Counts accredited nurseries."

Nursery director at Le Petit Monde, Jennie Bracewell, said: "We are delighted to be the first day nursery in Burnley to receive this accreditation. We always strive for the highest quality of care at Le Monde Petit and believe that the Quality Counts kite mark is an important demonstration of our commitment to quality which is both objective and independent."

The nursery achieved the kite mark award after completing the NDNA's challenging quality accreditation scheme which aims to promote quality day care and education for all children by developing and encouraging high standards in day nurseries.

In order to receive the kite mark, the nursery passed an assessment of sixteen modules by an independent panel.

Quality Counts is the only national quality assurance scheme specific to the day nursery sector.
