CADETS from Leigh and Tyldesley are enjoying an adventure holiday with a military flavour.

They have joined forces with 400 members of the Greater Manchester Army Cadets on a two weeks summer camp in Sussex.

They are practising fieldcraft and exercises, outdoor pursuits including canoeing, raft building, orienteering and abseiling along with completing an expedition.

They are also learning how to set up camp and will spend at least one night under the stars.

But there will also be social and recreational events including karaoke and a day trip to Brighton.

New members are welcome to join the Force, a voluntary organisation for teenagers, sponsored by the Army and run by volunteer adult youth leaders, which is open to boys and girls between 12 and 18. There also vacancies for leaders.

Further information is available on 0161 237 3739 -- on the return from camp.
