GOT myself a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living Ted? -- well, not quite, but that is the song one lucky person could be singing as they walk off with a limited edition Sir Cliff Richard teddy.

Fred the cute ted is just one of the many collectables set to go under the hammer at an auction on Saturday, September 16, at Holy Family RC Church, Whitby Avenue, Preston.

It is one of only 700 Sir Cliff teddies, worth about £70, and handed over to organisers of the charity sale by manufacturers Gund UK, of Bamber Bridge.

Oscar winning Preston animator Nick Park, whose mother Mary is a parishioner at the church, has even donated a signed and framed sketch of canine character Gromit wearing his famous souwester hat.

Auction organiser Ann Miller said: "We've been overwhelmed by people's generosity. We have been inundated with really great items.

"I heard about the teddy bears as I'm a member of the Cliff Richard fan club. I read about them in the newsletter I get and it said he had been inspired to put his name to them as his sister collects bears.

"I contacted the company as they were local and we were lucky enough to receive Fred."

The proceeds from the auction will be split between Derian House, Chorley, and St Catherine's Hospice, Lostock Hall, and the Ingol church.

Mrs Miller said: "We have raised money for a lot of causes over the years, but decided to focus on the ones nearer to home."

Viewings for the lots will be available on the day from 10.30am-noon ahead of the sale at 2.30pm.
