A WOMAN who took part in a £2,360 raid on a man's flat while he was away from the weekend has been jailed for 12 months.

Burnley Crown Court heard how former heroin addict Susan Gordon, 32, who is now expecting her third child, was arrested after her fingerprints were found on a cereal bowl in the premises, in Accrington.

Judge Raymond Bennett said Gordon's accomplice had been given 12 months and he saw no reason to make any distinction. Gordon, of Blackburn Road, Accrington, had admitted burglary.

The court was told when the victim returned from his holiday he found somebody had broken into his flat by kicking through a door panel.

He went upstairs, searched his flat and found property worth £2,360 was missing. The haul included electrical equipment, compact discs and jewellery.

Fingerprints and footwear evidence were recovered at the scene and the prints matched the defendant's. Gordon was later arrested and made no comment.

Tim Ashmole, defending, said Gordon wasn't the main player in the offence, although she accepted it must be custody. She was pregnant and did not want her child, due in December, to be born in custody.

The defendant had had her first taste in custody on remand. She had been a heroin addict but had now detoxified and wanted to go out and see her children. The defendant had been in custody since August 15.
