I WOULD like to respond to your article on page 9 of LET November 12th, 'Pay more or risk losing beat police' (LET November 12). What police?
I never see any for months on end and about the only time I do is at holiday times Easter and Christmas in the shopping precinct. In fact, I thought they had all been replaced with big yellow robots at the side of the road.
So instead of paying more we should pay less. And talking of paying, what about all the parking meters and resident-only parking. Motorists pay road tax, to be on the roads but no matter where they go in Blackburn they have to pay to park.
Motorists pay enough already to be on the road. If they refused to pay, where could they put their cars? This is highway robbery.
A R DOUGLAS, Beechwood Drive, Blackburn.
