MICK McCARTHY felt that keeper Brian Jensen was the inspiration behind Burnley's draw at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

The Black Cats boss was rendered almost speechless by a stunning display between the posts by the Clarets number one.

He said: "I'm sure it was a cracking game for the neutral and the right result might have been six-all on chances created.

"Both keepers played well, but I thought their keeper was unbelievable. He pulled off a magnificent save in the last minute from Stewart, but there were a number of other good saves.

"He was all over the place and I would imagine they are exceptionally pleased with his performance. But that's not to suggest we haven't had to defend too and Mart Poom also made some good saves."

McCarthy added: "I felt that if we got a goal in the first fifteen minutes, when we were all over them, who knows?

"But they came back and hit post twice so they can feel unlucky. I'm not sure if our second goal was offside and if we get that, we possibly win comfortably.

"But it was nervy and they kept going and, I would say, got a deserved equaliser the way they were playing."

McCarthy, whose side have now won just once in seven games, moaned: "We'll just keep practising because there's nothing else you can do.

"The guys I've got here are the same who stopped the rot in the first place and got us to the top of the table and they will be the ones playing here all season long.

"Effort wise, it's never been in question, but we need a break."
