HARDY Darreners braved the weather to enjoy the town's official Christmas Lights switch-on.
More than 800 people wrapped up to join in the festivities -- with a fantastic firework display proving to be the main dazzler!
Events began at 3pm when youngsters rode down Bridge Street to re-enact the traditional nativity trek of Joseph and Mary -- Darwen's first traditional nativity walk which was backed by local business and churches. A snow scene was also opened in Darwen market.
But it was entertainment by Magic Mark and the BEE radio show which kept the youngsters entertained on stage.
There was also a display from the Darwen Morris Dancers and a chance to meet stars from Alice in Wonderland. Hundreds of fireworks lit the sky at about 5pm to form the main attraction.
