HINDSFORD slipped to their first home defeat of the season on Saturday, beaten 2-0 by Old Standians.

Standians went in front after only four minutes when they beat the Hindsford offside trap and Anthony Johnson broke through to score .

The game was close in the rest of the half with few scoring chances and with Simon Hampson playing well at the back Hindsford were rarely troubled.

Hindsford came close to scoring when good play between Chris Cunliffe and Mark Osmond ended with Neil Critcley's powerful shot flying just wide and then Mark Morris was unlucky when his turn and shot beat the keeper but hit the post and out to safety.

The second half started with Hindsford having most of the game but following their best spell a long clearance was headed out wide and the hard low cross was finished by Andy Isherwood at the near post.

Hindsford continued to press and created further chances but Standians defended well to hold on for the three points.

Hindsford Reserves gained a good point in a 3-3 draw at second placed Old Standians.

On Saturday both teams play Whitwoth Valley. Kick off 2pm.
