Ideal Isberg 16 Leigh Miners Rangers 40: THE 25th minute dismissal of Ideal Isberg centre Steve Larvin for use of the elbow played a significant part in the Miners fifth successive win.

Ideal worked hard to cover for the loss of Larvin but finally the Miners' extra man took it's toll and in the final quarter the Leigh side took full advantage.

The Miners were down as early as the first minute when Terry Smirk sent full-back Danny Ulyatt in. The Leigh sides poor start continued when Martin Johnson scored a second Ideal try.

After Larvin was red carded, the Miners responded with a try from winger Shaun Daley and a couple of Ian Hodson goals to level things at 8-8 at half time.

Smirk kicked Ideal back into the lead and then added the conversion to Ulyatt's second try.

But on the hour Miners' Great Britain captain Tommy Goulden showed his class by powering in for a try. When Goulden set up a try for Alan Reddicliffe, Hodson's conversion edged the Miners back in front.

After Sean Phoenix skipped through for a fourth Miners try, the floodgates opened. Steve Warburton, Chris Humphries and dave Patterson blasted in for further tries and Hodson took his goals tally to six.
