Castleford Lock Lane 12 Leigh East 28: JOHN Woods was Leigh East's scoring hero with four tries and four goals to demolish relegation-threatened Lock Lane.

The Castleford side can have no complaints. They were outclassed by East's superior attacking skills who had centre Woods as their sharpest cutting edge.

East had a firm grip on the game by half time when they led 16-0. With Woods getting outstanding support from half backs Danny Kilshaw and John Gunning, along with returning international Gary Fletcher, Lane never had the chance to fight back.

Woods opened East's account with a full-length touchdown in the 10th minute. He added the goal for good measure. Winger Andrew Gregson repeated the scoring format when he intercepted a stray pass and raced 90 metres for a second East try just six minutes later.

It was Woods with his second try and goal seven minutes from the break that brough East their 16-0 interval lead.

It was much tighter in the second half with Woods' 65th minute penalty the first score.

Lock lane finally opened their account when Tony Handford went in for a try and wayne Hardy goaled.

Briefly Lock Lane looked set for a comeback but Woods hat-trick try finally broke them.

Andy Tillett did cross for a second Lock Lane try five minutes from time but a fourth try from Woods two minutes from time gave him a 24-point haul.
