for a home

visit...

FATHER Christmas will be visiting children throughout the area to help raise money for the Mayor's life-saving charity.

Last year, with more than a little help from Hindsford councillor Mark Aldred, Santa delivered presents to grateful youngsters to raise funds for the Mayor's appeal to help Wigan and Leigh Scope.

This year Cllr Aldred has managed to convince Santa to do it all again, only this time the man in red will visit you.

He will be calling at homes to support current Mayor of Wigan, Cllr Wilf Brogan's charity Save A Life appeal aimed at funding a life-saving Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) to be used by the Greater Manchester Ambulance Service (GMAS).

The RRV, staffed by a single paramedic, will be fully equipped to respond to any emergency call.

House visits

Cllr Aldred said: "Santa's visits were so successful last year that we had to do it all again. So this year he will be available for house visits all over the borough.

"The minimum number of children per visit is four so don't just keep it to yourself but tell your friends and neighbours."

Cllr Aldred added: "The cost is £2 per child which includes a gift. All proceeds will go to the Mayor's fund. Alternatively if you run a group, Santa will present your presents for you for a donation to the charity."

The Mayor said: "It's great to have such an important figure helping out with our charity appeal. Particularly seeing it is Santa's busiest time of year as well.

"We're lucky that Cllr Aldred knows him, although I've never seen them both in the same room at the same time.

"We'd like to see as many people as possible getting behind our campaign and we hope everyone has a merry Christmas."
