SIR, I AM writing to say how much I enjoyed the service at the memorial garden on November 9.
What really gave me the most memory was that after the official wreath laying a member of the public laid their own wreath and poppy in the context of the service.
As a person who was brought up in Leigh from 1941 to 1954, when my parents moved to Blackpool, I was a member of the 14th Congregational Scout troop and every year I took part in the parade in the band or as standard bearer with my group and was educated at Windermere Road School, sadly no longer there.
