TWO new Bacup Borough players are set to lock horns with their former manager tonight.

For ex-Chorley players Darren Emmett and newest recruit Lee Wilkinson, who joined the West View side yesterday, will travel with the rest of Brent Peters' squad to take on Salford City tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Ammies are yet to win a game since ex-Chorley boss Mark Molyneaux took charge last month.

And despite Emmett and Wilkinson's close bond with the former Magpies' chief, Peters is confident the duo will be eager to stretch Salford's winless streak.

"I'm a bit surprised Lee wants to play but I'm not complaining - both he and Darren are keen to be involved tonight," the Bacup boss said.

"The bottom line is, we need points.

"We were fired up for Saturday's game against Clitheroe but unfortunately that was postponed.

"It's done us a favour in some ways though because it's given a few people time to get over knocks."

He added that he was delighted to snap up prolific front man Wilkinson, who was Chorley's leading goalscorer until his departure from Victory Park.

"I've been tracking him from the start of the season," Peters revealed.

"We needed someone to hold the ball up in attack and, while Darren does it well, there's no one better than Lee in that role and it's nice for the two to link up again.

"I made the required seven days notice of approach for him several weeks ago and, while he was interested, he wanted to give things a go at Chorley to see what would develop.

"But we're delighted to sign him now."

He added: "It will be a tough game at Salford because Mark Molyneaux will certainly have his side fired up. But I'm looking forward to the game tonight and getting back on track because we were disappointed to lose to Guisborough in the FA Vase, which was our last game.

"The lads let themselves down that day - they under achieved.

"But the new lads can't come here on reputation because you don't earn points that way.

"I will be looking for everyone to be on top of their game."

Lee Anderson will not feature as he started a seven-day ban yesterday while Rhodri Giggs will undergo a late fitness test on a back problem.

Giggs, however, will be keen to be involved at Moor Lane against his former club.
