JASON Lee Walker made life easy for police after kicking a stone through a house window.

Blackburn magistrates heard that half-an-hour after the incident, which had not been witnessed, he walked into the police station and confessed.

The court heard the incident had not even been reported and, but for Walker's actions, would probably never have been detected.

Walker, 23, of Royshaw Avenue, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to criminal damage. He was given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £300 compensation and £35 costs.

Basharat Ditta, defending, said it was common for lawyers ask for credit for early guilty pleas and co-operation with the police. "He is clearly deserving of the maximum credit after going to the police station and admitting it," said Mr Ditta.

He said Walker had been involved in an argument in a pub and as he came out kicked a stone, which smashed the double-glazed window."
