A YOUNGSTER woke his family on Saturday (Jan 24) morning after a fire started in his bedroom.
He ran into his mother's bedroom at about 10.30am, to tell her there was smoke in the room.
The child, along with his mother and her partner, were able to get out of the house in Ashworth Street, Elton, and call the fire brigade. The fire was contained within the upstairs rear bedroom.
The family declined hospital treatment.
Leading fire officer, Carl Bostock, from Bury Fire Station, said: "The boy and his family did everything right, and we were able to put out the fire. The damage was contained upstairs."
