AN advertising campaign of £2.5million is under way to recruit more special constables into the police service.

The campaign will continue with the challenging theme asking Could You Volunteer?

Over the next few months Lancashire Constabulary will be supporting the campaign with a number of initiatives and operations across the whole of the force. Recruitment fairs will be held all over the county, aimed at encouraging people to volunteer their services.

Joining the force as a special constable can give a person a great sense of fulfilment, the campaign says.

Specials have the chance to get involved with the community and make a real difference to help local people.

A Special Constables weekend will be held on 28 and 29 February, when all divisions will be involved in a number of exciting initiatives and operations in the town centres.

Anyone aged between 18 and a half and 50 who would like more information about how to become a Special Constable, should contact Wendy O'Leary of the Lancashire Constabulary Recruiting Department on 01772 410313.
